Runaways 03:07
"Runaways" by Jakubowski It's a long, long way, I know that we've come But then the world, hasn't stopped since the day it was born No we can't stop now, no we're never done Through the wind the rain and the snow, we'll carry on Living day by day, we will find another way Tied to nothing other, than our sisters and our brothers Following the cries, of our hearts, and our eyes Our world never breaks and time will never betray us We are runaways, and we don't look back at the fading past we just wound up chasing horizons through the dawn Living day by day, we will find another way Tied to nothing other, than our sisters and our brothers Following the cries, of our hearts, and our eyes Our world never breaks and time will never betray us We are runaways and our bind to life's never torn Our world never breaks and time will never betray us We are runaways and we don't look back at the fading past we just wound up chasing horizons through the dawn

"There Comes A Time" by Jakubowski There comes a time when you will, look at yourself And you might not believe your eyes And you can listen to your heart or to your head But you don't need to pick a side Time keeps moving fast but I'm going slow Always running but with nowhere to go Whether you stick or if you run A time will come There was a time when you felt, true to yourself Before you let life bring you down And now you're looking for distractions everywhere And your dreams no longer speak aloud It's all so real to me but still out of reach So I spend my days just following my feet And when these things are on your mind There comes a time Baby don't lie to me, baby don't lie to me, baby don't lie to yourself no more Baby don't lie to me, baby don't lie to me, baby don't lie to yourself no more Baby don't lie to me, baby don't lie to me, baby don't lie to yourself no more

"Simple Things In Life" by Jakubowski Flat on my back in the vineyards With a hat tipped over my face When time is slow and the sun is low Is there any other place? My new met friends are just down the road Later we’ll dance and we’ll sing Washed in wine and southern comforts We’ll bring the night on in Sadness and pain will visit again but I won’t be waiting around I’ll be on my way as the new light of day climbs from the ground So here’s to times in firelight Amongst the endless summer nights Here’s to the world that’s in our palms and the joy that has no price So raise your glass and clap your hands for the simple things in life I awoke in the light of the morning With a kiss and the drink on my breath Carried my feet down a dusty road Feeling like I’d met my death But the sunlight is curing my illness As hear of a chance to the west Put all my troubled thoughts away We’ll all bring out our best Come with me for time’s too precious to wait around for the gloom You can always rely on it coming by soon So here’s to us who make the most Of every cause to raise a toast Here’s to the world that’s in our palms and the joy that has no price So raise your glass and clap your hands for the simple things in life. So here’s to the health of every friend And here’s to hoping it never ends Here’s to the world that’s in our palms and the joy that has no price So raise your glass and clap your hands for the simple things in life.

"It's A Straight Road Home From Here" by Jakubowski There’s a lightning storm over the mountain As the wheels soldier on to the final turn In science of sleep I have been here a hundred times before And everything left behind me burns, burns, burns Through every torrid river flow And thicket I must go It’s a straight, straight road home from here And when the morning comes around I’ll be on solid ground It’s a straight, straight road home from here When I was I boy the world made sense In the garden down at the foot of hill But somewhere on my way over the fence A twist of fate came in for the kill, kill, kill From every faded memory That holds part of the key It’s a straight, straight road home from here From every trodden blade of grass That fell along the path It’s a straight, straight road home from here After every single lesson learned And every bridge that burned It’s a straight, straight road home from here After every sight that met my eyes And every last goodbye It’s a straight, straight road home from here

"Polaroid Dreams" by Jakubowski Sailing through the littered busy streets and empty spaces Every part time home and every lover Looking back at all the crowded rooms and friendly faces I will walk from one frame to another Each person and place that that we leave I will see them in these polaroid dreams Sometimes we’re all bewitched and deceived But in them I can believe In them I can believe Now the sun has made our t-shirts fade and put lines around you’re smile But don’t you mind I think it suits you well Cause we all make the most of what we have in every while How we’ll change it’s always hard to tell So every last memento holds a different kind of treasure Every step we take along the road Dreams of back-yard parties and dreams of private pleasure I’ll stand by and watch the storm unload And no matter what the caption reads I take comfort in these polariod dreams All of you who made them with me You I’ll never leave You I’ll never leave

about

Each song on this record is a glimpse of stories and experiences, inspired by Rick Jakubowski's own travels. Starting with the title track 'Runaways' the EP takes us on a whistle stop journey through bold adventures and sun drenched drinking sessions to farewell salutes and last goodbyes.

Are you a fan of Bright Eyes, Bob Dylan, Nick Drake, Conor Oberst, Van Morrison, Laura Marling, Ryan Adams, The National, Iron and Wine, Neil Young, Bon Iver, Decemberists, Sufjan Stevens, Joni Mitchell, Fairport Convention, Fleet Foxes, Belle and Sebastien, Willy Mason, Damien Rice, Elvis Perkins, Fleetwood Mac, Glen Hansard, Jeff Buckley, John Martyn, The Kinks, Leonard Cohen, Radiohead...? All of the above?

Us too. We like to think that having been so inspired by all of those great artists, a little piece of each one of them might be heard in our music. So, if you're a fan of them, maybe you'll be a fan of us.
